GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a piece of EU-wide legislation which will determine how people’s personal data is processed and kept safe, and the legal rights individuals have in relation to their own data.

‘Personal data’ means information that can identify a living individual.

The regulation will apply to all schools from 25 May 2018, and will apply even after the UK leaves the EU.

The school has and continues to be working to ensure that all its practices relating to data protection are compliant with the new laws,

this  includes:

  • Conducting a self-assessment of readiness for GDPR.
  • Reviewing all documentation from Gov.UK, ICO.
  • An in-depth audit, of all data processing in the school.
  • Attendance at training for GDPR readiness.
  • Reissue of letters for photography of children.
  • Reissue of Privacy Notices for anyone associated with the school.
  • Regular meetings to work through the 12 steps to the GDPR.
  • Information for staff, governors and parents in letters, meetings and emails.
  • Requests of privacy notices from all our IT providers, e.g. Parentmail, ParentPay, IT hosting, CPOMS, SIMS etc.

We are in the process of:

  • An in-depth audit, of all data processing in the school.
  • Delivering staff training
  • Reviewing  policies: Data Protection; CCTV; Freedom of Information.
  • Issuing OPT-IN email for information about the school.
  • Reviewing contracts with our suppliers.
  • Requesting privacy notices from all our IT providers, e.g. Parentmail, ParentPay, IT hosting,  SIMS etc.
