The school meets the needs of pupils who have severe or profound learning difficulties, with additional difficulties that may include physical difficulties, speech and language delay, sensory impairment and under developed social skills. Pupils may also have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. All pupils at Fairfields try their best to achieve throughout the school day, every day! Learning Support Assistant Level 1 or Level 2
Fairfields is a primary special school catering for children between the ages of 3 and 11 with severe or profound learning, communication and physical difficulties. We also cater for pupils on the autistic spectrum. Some children may have multi-sensory impairment and complex medical difficulties. Our classrooms are designed to help support our pupils’ development and equipped to promote independence, curiosity and active learning. Staff pay great attention to reducing pupils’ barriers to learning; liaising with multi-agency professionals to secure outstanding provision. The number of pupils per class is low with a high adult-pupil ratio. Each class has one teacher and 3-4 learning assistants depending on the age, ability and special needs of the class.
We are looking for Level 1 or Level 2 teaching assistants, dependent on experience to join our dedicated and supportive team. All successful applicants will need to be committed to the belief that all children deserve the opportunity to achieve their full potential. At Fairfields, we believe that all children can achieve. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team. They will need excellent communication skills, good English, Maths and ICT skills. Fairfields School is committed to providing safe environment in which children can learn and develop. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check as well as the usual pre-employment checks.
Salary (dependent on experience): £16863-£17972 FTE
Hours per week: 32.5 (39 weeks per year)
